At the beginning of the year we were given a sheet with questions about art, and this class. The first question on the sheet was "what is art" this question made really think, and both times I answered about the same way; the first time I said "art is whatever you say art is"and my second response was "art is an opinion, are is and means different things to different people."I think that the second way I responded was better and more open than my first one, because it is true, everyone has their own opinion about art, some people think it is only classical art, and some say street art isn't art, but I think that anything created can be art, like food, sculptures, painting, drawing, music, ect.
We had another question that asked us if copying is alway plagiarism or if it is a gray area. For this question I said that it was a gray area b0th times, my opinion didn't change with this either. I still think that not all ideas are completely original they are just being added to, to become better or different. Famous artist like; Andy Warhol, and Shepard Fairey, but I don't think they totally plagiarised the "original artist.
"What are some reasons artist make art?"Again my answers were very similar, I said; to make money, express feeling, because they can, for fun, etc. I think that there are so many reasons for an artist to art, and that will always be true, and I think that sometimes the reason artist art can be more interesting than the art itself.
"What is the point of this class, what do you think you'll get out of it?"The first time I answered this I said; "to continue expanding knowledge or art, and better art; This was an okay answer but I really feel that this class has helped me as an artist. I have learned different ways to draw and paint, and that to give a picture good dimension you have to have very dark shading, DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK!!!! This class has been such a fun experience, what other class could I sculpt a butt in? Or use donuts as a destruction project? This class has broadened my views on art and most importantly remember that Picasso is a jerk.
